As I mentioned in a previous post, I sell things on eBay for extra income. In the early years, I remember listing a couple of empty beer cans as a half-serious experiment to see what people would be willing to buy. When the beer cans sold, I began checking the completed listings on eBay to see if anything destined for my trash can ever sold, before I threw it out. Suffice to say, I have built up quite an “inventory”.

Here is an article of one lady who did not do her research when listing an extremely rare baseball card for just $10. The estimated value is in the low six figures. Luckily a friend intervened and she ended the auction before it sold. eBay auctions are contractually bound transactions, so do your due diligence. It could save you a lot of money.

Do you want more tips on researching/selling on eBay? I may do a regular eBay tip Tuesday if there’s enough interest.

Today Amazing Spider-Man #583 is released at most comic book stores. If you have a subscription or pre-ordered this very collectible edition, then you are lucky. Most of the large online comic stores are sold out. It has President-elect Barack Obama on the cover. It is a variant cover, which is an alternate cover or cover “B”. These are already going for around $40-$50 on eBay. If that is out of your spending range, then there is a 2nd printing being released next Wednesday, but 2nd printings do not hold their value like the first, original printings, as with most collectibles. The President-elect mentioned during his campaign that he enjoyed reading Spider-man comics and connected with his internal turmoil.

I run a part-time eBay business, so I will be sharing some tips and deals with you, so you can increase your income through selling on eBay. I am a silver Powerseller, which means I have at least $9,000 in sales in the last 3 months or $36,000 in the last 12 months.
