DVD Renters To Get Short Changed

Here’s a story at Switched about how FOX is removing all Special Features from DVDs that are destined for rentals. They will remove the deleted scenes, making-of documentaries, and commentaries from the rental versions, like those I get from Netflix. The only way to view these extras are if you purchase a retail version of the DVD. They are beginning this experiment with Slumdog Millionaire and Marley & Me. I hope this doesn’t catch on, but I will never buy a DVD at full price any more. There are so many used ones for sale at more than 50% on eBay, etc. Just wait a few months if you really need to buy it at all.
